There are instances when we can’t help craving for junk food. Since our childhood, our moms have repeated, time and again, that these sugar and sodium packed foodstuff are not good for us but we still want them. A couple of my friends even talk about a junk food conspiracy theory which involves food giants and their goal to poison our food, to make it addictive, and to manipulate our very body chemistry. But that’s another story.
Giving up junk food is a very important step if you want to lose weight or maintain your ideal poundage. I know it will not be easy but with a lot determination and some helpful tips, it is not impossible.
Get rid of all junk food in your house and desk at work. You will be less likely to have a craving for it if it is not in sight. And you will not have access to any junk food if a craving does hit.
Drink lots of water. If you feel full from the water, you will no longer want the junk food that was on your mind earlier.
Chew on a piece of sugar free gum until the junk food craving is gone. Chewing a piece of a gum will take care of the boredom that sometimes causes junk food cravings.

An apple a day helps alleviate allergies away!
Allergies can be such a hassle! Your waking hours are consumed with sneezing, coughing and wheezing. You either can't breathe through your nose, or you can't stop it from dripping! People with allergies and asthma will do almost anything to control their environment to prevent allergic attacks. They remove their carpeting, encase pillows and mattresses and install expensive air-filtration systems. Some even come to the extent of moving to a different climate in a desperate attempt to escape their allergies.
Don’t fret allergy sufferers. You don’t need to live in a bubble to help prevent your allergies. You can fight allergies by what you eat! There are foods that can influence the immune system and give relief to some allergies. These foods can help control underlying inflammation of air passages, dilate air passages, thin mucus in the lungs and prevent food-allergy reactions that trigger asthma attacks.
Fish oil, canola oil and walnut oil are rich of omega-3 essential fatty acids which are natural anti-inflammatory agents while 100% fruit juices are powerful antioxidants that when included in the diet can greatly alleviate allergic symptoms.
Fiber-infused foods like whole grains, nuts and yogurt are also helpful in preventing allergies related to the gastrointestinal tract. The active cultures in yogurt not only help with gastrointestinal concerns, they also help to fight skin allergies.
Some studies have shown that people with asthma are zinc-deficient. It is advised that foods rich in zinc be included in an allergy sufferer’s diet. Plain yogurt, tofu, lean ground beef, lean ham, oysters, crab and the dark meat of turkey and chicken are just some of zinc-rich foods.
Apples are believed to contain important nutrients, including antioxidants that improve lung health. So stop the sneezing, coughing and wheezing! Eat an apple a day and alleviate those allergies away!
